Job Description
This position is part of the Environmental Services department in a healthcare setting, dedicated to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all patients, family members, guests, healthcare team members, and associates. The Environmental Services department plays a crucial role within the hospital, focusing on sanitation and cleanliness to prevent infections and promote a hygienic atmosphere throughout the facility. The team directly contributes to patient safety and overall satisfaction by ensuring that all public areas, patient rooms, exam rooms, restrooms, and ancillary areas meet rigorous standards of cleanliness and safety.
As a member of the Environmental Services team, you will be entrusted with performing a range of cleaning and sanitation duties using specialized equipment and chemicals specifically suited for healthcare settings. The role demands high attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team. You will ensure that all assigned areas are clean, orderly, and compliant with hospital-wide policies and procedures, including patient privacy and safety standards.
The role requires a commitment to service excellence, demonstrating professionalism not only through work standards but also in personal presentation and communication. Employees in this position are expected to maintain a clean and professional uniform, communicate clearly and courteously with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff, and follow established operational procedures faithfully. The job also involves physical activity such as lifting, pushing, and extensive walking, which requires a good level of physical fitness.
This position is ideal for individuals who have experience or interest in environmental services, customer service, and hospitality. Prior experience in a medical or hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory, as long as the candidate is willing to learn and adhere to the department’s strict standards. Working rotating weekends and holidays is required, reflecting the hospital’s need for constant staffing to maintain a safe environment 24/7.
Employment type is typically full-time or part-time with flexible schedules to ensure coverage throughout all operational hours. Although salary details are not specified, compensation is expected to align with industry standards for environmental services roles within healthcare facilities.
In summary, this Environmental Services role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to the health and safety of the community by maintaining hospital cleanliness and sanitation. The position requires reliability, strong work ethics, and a willingness to engage in physically demanding and detail-oriented tasks alongside proactive communication and teamwork.
