We are actively seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis, working day shifts from 7am to 3:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the hospital environment meets and exceeds cleanliness and safety standards mandated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation. Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Director, the Environmental Services Assistant will be responsible for the routine cleaning and maintenance of various areas within the facility to promote a hygienic and inviting atmosphere. The Environmental Services Assistant is entrusted with performing all necessary cleaning duties that include sweeping, mopping, stripping, scrubbing, refinishing, and vacuuming floors. They will also be responsible for spot cleaning, polishing surfaces, cleaning windows, washing walls, and handling the sanitization of patient rooms both during hospital stays and after discharge. Proper handling and transportation of medical waste and linens, restocking sanitation supplies, and assisting in pest control by reporting issues to the maintenance team are key responsibilities. Additionally, this role requires the upkeep and maintenance of cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners, ensuring all tools are in good working order to maintain efficiency and safety.

Job Duties

  • Perform all basic cleaning necessary to keep assigned areas according to Joint Commission on Accreditation Standards
  • sweep, mop, strip, scrub, refinish, vacuum and spot clean floors
  • clean and polish surfaces
  • clean vertical and horizontal surfaces
  • collect and transport medical waste or clean/dirty linen
  • clean windows, change window treatments and cubicle curtains, wash walls
  • maintain all environmental services equipment including floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners
  • clean and disinfect patient rooms during hospital stay and after discharge
  • assist in pest control by reporting issues to maintenance
  • restock all sanitation products in assigned areas
  • move furniture or heavy objects to provide pathway for cleaning purposes
