The Cleaning Technician will perform a variety of general cleaning tasks, utilizing both manual and mechanized equipment to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control. Responsibilities include changing and hanging curtains, cleaning and disinfecting furniture, equipment, and various rooms such as locker rooms and restrooms. The technician will also respond promptly to cleanup requests, handle waste disposal, and maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition. Job Duties
- Changes and hangs drapes curtains and cubicle curtains
- cleans and disinfects furniture and equipment such as wheelchairs shower chairs and over-bed stands
- cleans locker rooms toilets restrooms and washrooms and replenishes soap towels and toilet tissues
- contributes to department goals adheres to policies procedures quality standards and safety standards and complies with governmental and accreditation regulations
- dusts cleans scrubs disinfects and polishes furniture walls woodwork window sills fans vents blinds radiators air conditioners mirrors lamps tiles bathrooms and equipment and cleans windows and door frames using a ladder when needed
- gathers and disposes of soiled linen trash and waste materials replaces trash can liners and responds to cleanup requests for spills and special problems
- maintains infection control through proper cleaning and sanitizing follows specific cleaning procedures and obeys hazard warning signs
- maintains equipment through preventive maintenance uses supplies properly reports hazardous or malfunctioning equipment
- notes and reports plumbing and structural issues such as dripping faucets plugged drains broken windows
- participates in meetings committees community outreach and service improvement teams
- performs discharge cleaning prepares rooms for new occupants and follows isolation procedures
- performs routine daily cleaning tasks across various hospital areas including patient rooms nursing stations hallways public access and utility rooms
- sets up and stores chairs and tables for conferences classes and special events moves and relocates furniture furnishings equipment and heavy objects
- utilizes scrubbers buffers floor cleaners vacuums mops buffers strips waxes polishes floors and shampoos furniture and carpets
