Cherokee Nation Government Solutions is currently hiring for two Environmental Specialist positions, an entry-level and a mid-level role, to support the Hickam Air Force Base Civil Engineering Squadron (647 CES) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The 647 CES plays a pivotal role in managing and maintaining base facilities and infrastructure, and these roles align with a major transition where real property and environmental project management responsibilities are shifting from the Navy to the Air Force, as directed by the Air Force Chief of Staff. The Environmental Specialists will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient transfer of these programs, while also contributing to ongoing environmental compliance and sustainability efforts.

The Environmental Specialists will work closely with the 647 CES to support the operation and maintenance of base assets, ensure adherence to environmental regulations, and develop and implement environmental programs. Key responsibilities include conducting research, data analysis, environmental impact assessments, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to manage risks associated with pollution control and environmental sustainability. They will assist in preparing policy recommendations, strategic environmental plans, and various reports that will support leadership decision-making and compliance initiatives. In addition, the specialist will engage in coordinating with government agencies, contractors, and international entities to align environmental quality efforts and meet regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, or a related natural science field and bring relevant experience with federal or military environmental programs and real property management. The mid-level position requires at least three years of Department of the Navy facility or infrastructure experience, plus five years managing environmental programs. The entry-level role requires a minimum of one year of related Department of the Navy experience and exposure to Air Force base-level real property management. Familiarity with military protocols, regulatory frameworks, and relevant IT systems like NexGen IT or BUILDER is highly valued. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, proficiency in software tools such as MS Excel and MS Access, and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Having a valid U.S. passport and the ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) through federal security clearance are mandatory.

Compensation for these full-time roles offers a competitive salary of up to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, and 401K retirement plans.
