The position offered is within the facilities maintenance and custodial team, designed to uphold cleanliness and safety across various county establishments. This role is vital in ensuring that public spaces, including offices, entryways, restrooms, stairwells, elevators, and other county buildings, are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and presentation. The employee will perform a range of cleaning activities, utilizing various tools such as commercial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners. Cleaning duties include but are not limited to vacuuming carpets, polishing surfaces, collecting trash and recyclables, and securing equipment at the end of shifts. The custodial role requires exceptional attention to detail, an ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and adherence to safety and health regulations.
This is a non-exempt, at-will employment position with a starting salary of $36,724. The role demands the capability to meet deadlines and maintain productivity whether operating under direct supervision or independently. Employees must communicate and coordinate effectively with fellow staff to ensure seamless work processes and the continuous maintenance of county facilities. The work schedule is structured, and punctuality is critical to cover all assigned tasks consistently. Job Duties
- perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
- work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other staff
- comply with all applicable safety and health related rules, regulations, and procedures
- clean floors, vacuum carpets, empty trash, clean stairwells, elevators, entrance ways, perform dusting and polishing, clean glass and restrooms
- maintain a thorough inventory
- use equipment including commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners
- collect and take out trash and recycling
- secure equipment at the end of each shift
- perform all assigned work according to schedule
- perform other duties as assigned
