They utilize up-to-date cleaning protocols and equipment to ensure the highest level of hygiene and safety, especially in high-risk areas such as operating rooms and patient discharge rooms. This facility is known for a supportive work environment and opportunities for career growth in various support roles, including environmental services. The employment is full-time with a focus on professionalism and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
The role being offered is for a Housekeeping Aide who will play an essential part in maintaining the hospital's cleanliness and operational efficiency. This position involves utilizing a variety of cleaning equipment, including mechanical and electrical devices, to scrub, strip, polish, and refinish floors. The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for analyzing floor and carpet conditions to determine the appropriate cleaning techniques, ensuring compliance with departmental processes. This individual must be proactive, taking initiative to seek additional tasks from supervisors or colleagues when time permits while ensuring that their assigned duties are completed promptly and satisfactorily.
The job includes cleaning and sanitizing following emergency spills and standard waste management procedures, including collecting and disposing of hazardous and medical waste following hospital and regulatory guidelines. The role demands maintaining orderly, clean, and safe work environments, handling sharps containers, soiled linen, rubbish removal, and operating waste compactors safely. The Housekeeping Aide must demonstrate excellent customer service skills by interacting patiently and tactfully with patients, families, and hospital staff, maintaining confidentiality, and representing the department positively.
Additional duties include arranging furniture for meetings and events as specified, relocating equipment upon request, performing terminal cleans, and cross-training on discharge and operating room cleaning to support the hospital's fluctuating needs during peak periods. A commitment to professional growth is encouraged, with mandatory participation in departmental training, annual compliance with computer-based training, and adherence to attendance and punctuality policies.
Candidates for this job should possess a high school diploma or GED or have comparable work experience, preferably with one to two years of prior housekeeping experience in a healthcare or similar environment. Basic computer skills are preferred, alongside the ability to communicate effectively in English and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 pounds.
