The EVS Technician I role at Craig Hospital is an essential position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the hospital environment. This full-time role offers varied schedule options including shifts from 6 am to 2:30 pm, 7 am to 3:30 pm, and 3 pm to 12 am, with specific assignments such as working in the kitchen area during the evening shift from Monday through Friday. Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $26.64 per hour, including applicable shift differentials for nights and weekends.

The primary responsibility of the EVS Technician I is to perform heavy housekeeping and service duties throughout patient care and non-patient care areas. This includes comprehensive cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, and polishing to maintain high standards of hygiene and appearance in areas including patient rooms, procedure rooms, bathrooms, public spaces, and offices. Technicians are expected to perform complete discharge cleaning of patient rooms as they become vacant, ensuring a safe and sanitized environment for incoming patients.

Adherence to infection prevention protocols is critical. The EVS Technician I must follow hospital guidelines for biohazardous waste handling, hand hygiene, and use of chemicals in strict accordance with safety data sheets. The role demands physical endurance to meet the demands of intensive cleaning tasks and the ability to prioritize and adjust to changing workloads effectively.

Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills are vital for success in this position. Technicians will frequently interact with patients, staff, and visitors, responding to their questions and requests with professionalism and courtesy. Maintaining clean and orderly supply and equipment storage areas, managing soiled linen and trash removal, and ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and returned after use are essential ongoing duties.
