The Environmental Services Technician I role at Akron Children's Hospital is a full-time, onsite position integral to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards that ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves daily cleaning of patient rooms, discharge cleaning, and support service area maintenance using established cleaning protocols and best practices. The technician uses appropriate cleaning equipment, solutions, and tools, including UV light technology for terminal cleaning of walls, lights, and ceilings. Emphasis is placed on adherence to infection control procedures and delivering high-quality cleaning outcomes as verified through quality assurance standards. The technician also contributes to promoting a positive impression of the hospital through courteous interactions and professionalism.

Work hours are from 3:15pm to 11:45pm with rotating weekends and holidays, ensuring continuous support for hospital operations. The position requires proficiency in cleaning techniques, equipment operation, knowledge of chemicals and safety protocols, and the ability to perform preventative, discharge, and terminal cleaning tasks. Annual respiratory mask fitting and recertification training are mandatory to maintain compliance with safety standards. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, able to follow instructions accurately, and motivated to maintain steady productivity while meeting high-quality cleaning standards. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • daily cleaning of patient rooms supplying rooms with paper products discharge room cleaning utilizing accepted practices daily cleaning of support service areas as assigned demonstrating knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques solutions equipment and tools using appropriate chemicals supplies and tools providing preventative cleaning service according to Ten Step Interactive Cleaning and High-Profile Cleaning Procedures performing discharge cleaning according to Interactive Discharge Procedure performing terminal cleaning of walls lights and ceilings including use of UV light technology adhering to hospital and department standards for patient and guest relations promoting a positive image of Akron Children's Hospital maintaining high standards working at a steady pace achieving high QA scores filling in to support other Support Services areas as needed following written and verbal instructions accurately completing other duties as assigned
