The Environmental Services Technician role at Methodist Hospital is pivotal in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position is integral to infection control and safety measures within the hospital, focusing on the cleanliness and sanitation of all patient rooms and hospital areas. Daily responsibilities emphasize routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, along with specialized sanitation techniques and the use of professional cleaning equipment. Job Requirements

  • proper safety skills in handling of housekeeping chemicals and equipment
  • basic floor care practices

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitation, infectious waste, floor and carpet care including knowledge of aseptic procedures, detergent/germicide solution and proper use and cleaning of equipment, proper use of safety standards and procedures in housekeeping skills
  • basic housekeeping practices and procedures
  • proper handling/disposal of infectious waste
  • proper safety skills in handling of housekeeping chemicals and equipment
  • basic floor care practices
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • cleans and sanitizes all patient and ancillary departments, offices and public areas
  • cleans assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceiling, patient and non-patient furniture, fans, vents, fixtures, floors, carpets and windows
  • cleans assigned areas within the given eight-hour period
  • selects and prepares proper chemical solution for all jobs
  • compliance must meet department cleaning standards
  • collects and transports infectious, chemo, pharmaceutical and pathological waste in special waste containers
  • collects, processes and disposes of trash and linen throughout the facility
  • maintains janitors' carts/closets stocked and neat
  • compliance will be met at 100%
