The hiring establishment is a reputable hospital facility known for providing high-quality healthcare services and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This hospital is committed to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout its premises to ensure a safe, attractive, and comfortable environment. The organization values professionalism, patient satisfaction, and adherence to established protocols and safety procedures. It emphasizes teamwork, positive interactions among staff and patients, respect for confidentiality, and continuous professional growth to enhance service delivery.
This role is for a dedicated Environmental Services Worker who plays a critical part in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness across various areas within the hospital and its off-site facilities. The position involves cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and other hospital spaces using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment. The Environmental Services Worker must adhere to department procedures, schedules, and safety policies for handling chemicals and solutions while ensuring that all assigned areas are kept in an orderly and safe condition.
The position demands a commitment to customer satisfaction, demonstrating professionalism in interactions with patients, families, hospital personnel, and visitors. Using communication techniques such as AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank you), the worker ensures a positive experience for both internal and external customers. The role also requires strict observance of infection control policies, proper handling of waste materials including hazardous and medical waste, and ensuring confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
Environmental Services Workers are responsible for preparing cleaning solutions, operating equipment like vacuum cleaners and shampooers, replenishing supplies, arranging furniture, and reporting equipment repairs or safety hazards. They must also support emergency situations by performing additional cleaning or sanitizing tasks as needed. Maintaining attendance, punctuality, and participating in mandatory training and education sessions are also key components of the role. The position typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent work experience, with basic computer skills preferred.
Physical requirements include walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 35 pounds without assistance, with expectations to use lifting equipment or seek assistance for heavier loads. This role demands reliability, attention to detail, effective communication skills in English, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Ultimately, the Environmental Services Worker ensures a hygienic and welcoming environment that supports the hospital's mission to deliver exceptional patient care.
