Job Description
TriHealth is a comprehensive healthcare organization dedicated to providing a wide range of medical services and compassionate care to patients and communities across its network. As one of the leading healthcare providers, TriHealth focuses on delivering quality patient experiences by emphasizing safety, respect, and continuous improvement. The organization values teamwork, responsibility, and service excellence, which are embedded in its core standards known as the SERVE standards. This approach fosters an environment where every employee plays a vital role in contributing to the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
The role of Environmental Services Technician under the direct supervision of the floor supervisor is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions within patient areas, offices, and restrooms throughout the facility. This position primarily involves surface cleaning and wet mopping, ensuring that all areas meet high standards of hygiene and safety at all times. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for routine daily cleaning tasks, as well as responding to special cleaning needs as they arise.
The position requires a proactive and conscientious individual who understands the importance of infection control, particularly when working in sensitive areas such as isolation rooms, laboratories, nurseries, and labor and delivery units. Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment and adhering to established cleaning protocols are essential elements of this role to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
In addition to cleaning floors, sinks, commodes, and showers, the Environmental Services Technician is also tasked with the upkeep of furniture, including fabric and upholstered items, as well as dusting surfaces, cleaning windows, mirrors, walls, and specialized medical equipment. Maintaining the supply of soap and paper products in dispensers, managing waste disposal procedures that include regular, recyclable, and infectious waste, and correctly storing cleaning equipment are further responsibilities.
This role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform a variety of tasks that require standing, walking, lifting, kneeling, and reaching consistently throughout the shift. The ability to use hands effectively for cleaning and handling equipment is critical. The work environment involves exposure to various sounds and the necessity for acute visual acuity.
Beyond technical duties, the Environmental Services Technician is expected to embrace and exemplify TriHealth's SERVE standards, which include welcoming and engaging with patients and guests, showing respect for cultural and individual differences, valuing time and resources, and fostering a culture of appreciation and compassion among team members and the community.
This is typically a full-time position requiring 1-2 years of related experience, and the ideal candidate will be someone who values teamwork and high standards in healthcare facility maintenance. The role is essential in supporting the overall mission of TriHealth to provide exceptional care and service in a clean and safe environment.
