The Environmental Services, Lead position at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is a part-time role with an hourly wage of $27.20. It reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager and Building Operations Manager. This crucial leadership role is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the Environmental Services department to guarantee the facility remains clean, safe, and prepared for all public assembly events. The Lead Environmental Services Crew Leader supports the Environmental Services Manager by providing hands-on leadership, coordinating staff assignments, and monitoring the quality and efficiency of work performed during shifts and events. The role requires a proactive approach to supervising a team of environmental services workers, creating daily work assignments, ensuring safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with material safety data sheets (MSDS), and conducting inspections to confirm standards are met consistently. This position also carries responsibility for submitting maintenance requests for any facility repairs or damages observed during shifts. In addition to administrative duties, the Lead is charged with fostering a productive, accountable team environment that emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines, department policies, and overall facility rules. This includes assisting in employee training, coaching, and counseling alongside the Environmental Services Manager. The job requires flexibility with work hours, including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays, in order to meet the demands of event schedules. Physical demands are significant as the role involves standing for long periods, extensive use of hands in handling equipment, and the ability to lift or move weights up to 100 pounds. Work conditions include both indoor and outdoor environments and potentially adverse weather or environmental factors. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1-2 years of custodial or Environmental Services experience
- ability to work irregular hours including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays
- physical ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly
- ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings
- ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
- union membership is a condition of employment
- commitment to following safety guidelines and policies
- willingness to participate in training and coaching sessions
Job Qualifications

- supervisory experience preferred
- good organization skills
- good oral, written and interpersonal skills
- ability to work with little supervision
- ability to work irregular hours including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays
- some computer experience
Job Duties
- Assist manager on directing Environmental Services workers by assigning duties to crewmembers
- create daily assignment sheets and see that assignments are completed
- ensure all job assignments are completed during events or shifts
- utilize chemicals and materials necessary for upkeep of the facility in accordance with MSDS
- ensure Environmental Services workers use chemicals and equipment safely
- inspect completed work for conformance to standards
- submit maintenance request orders for repairs and damages
- monitor employee compliance with facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and safety requirements
- assist manager with department training, coaching, and counseling
- follow and ensure adherence to established safety guidelines
- attend to and conform to policies established by Legends Global and Environmental Services Department
- attend weekly staff meetings and monthly safety meetings as necessary
