The Environmental Services, Lead position at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is a part-time role with an hourly wage of $27.20. It reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager and Building Operations Manager. This crucial leadership role is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the Environmental Services department to guarantee the facility remains clean, safe, and prepared for all public assembly events. The Lead Environmental Services Crew Leader supports the Environmental Services Manager by providing hands-on leadership, coordinating staff assignments, and monitoring the quality and efficiency of work performed during shifts and events. The role requires a proactive approach to supervising a team of environmental services workers, creating daily work assignments, ensuring safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with material safety data sheets (MSDS), and conducting inspections to confirm standards are met consistently. This position also carries responsibility for submitting maintenance requests for any facility repairs or damages observed during shifts. In addition to administrative duties, the Lead is charged with fostering a productive, accountable team environment that emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines, department policies, and overall facility rules. This includes assisting in employee training, coaching, and counseling alongside the Environmental Services Manager. The job requires flexibility with work hours, including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays, in order to meet the demands of event schedules. Physical demands are significant as the role involves standing for long periods, extensive use of hands in handling equipment, and the ability to lift or move weights up to 100 pounds. Work conditions include both indoor and outdoor environments and potentially adverse weather or environmental factors.
