The role available is a full-time night shift Environmental Services position at Texas Health Huguley. This role is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the hospital environment by ensuring assigned patient and public areas are cleaned daily, including trash removal and surface sanitization. It involves stocking supplies, demonstrating knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper use of cleaning equipment, and performing additional duties as assigned. The job requires using the Bed Management system to efficiently manage bed flow with handheld tracking technology. Other responsibilities include handling soiled linen, disposing of normal and biohazardous waste, cleaning bodily fluid areas per facility standards, and documenting all performed tasks. The role also requires access to ancillary units, restrooms, and offices to maintain all areas in optimal condition. Job Requirements

  • High school grad or equiv preferred
  • Housekeeping or custodial experience preferred
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard
  • Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets product labels and various reports
  • Ability to follow oral and written assignments
  • Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interact with patients

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts practices and procedures within a particular field
  • Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard
  • Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interact with patients

  • Must be able to follow oral and written assignments and have full knowledge of basic environmental duties
  • Environmental services experience within a healthcare environment preferred
  • Knowledge of additional languages preferred
  • High school grad or equiv preferred

Job Duties

  • Cleans assigned patient and public areas daily including collecting and removing trash and sanitizing all surfaces
  • Stocks paper items cleaning solutions and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of infection control isolation procedures and proper operation of cleaning equipment
  • Utilizes Bed Management system to maintain productive flow of bed throughput using hand-held technology for tracking
  • Collects and stages soiled linen for pick up
  • Disposes of normal and biohazardous waste
  • Cleans and disinfects areas containing bodily fluids in accordance with facility standards
  • Documents all work performed
  • Accesses ancillary units restrooms offices in assigned areas
