Job Requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing and polishing
- Ability to empty and transport soiled linen and trash including medical waste and sharps safely
- Ability to inventory and restock cleaning supplies
- Ability to maintain and properly use cleaning equipment
- Ability to respond to patient, staff and visitor inquiries professionally
- Ability to work independently and as a team member without constant supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person
- Understand and apply safety protocols and chemical usage instructions
Job Qualifications
- Previous related experience in environmental services preferred
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment and techniques preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policies and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
- Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and reports repairs as needed
- Performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, meeting or exceeding customer service satisfaction goals
