Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing and polishing
  • Ability to empty and transport soiled linen and trash including medical waste and sharps safely
  • Ability to inventory and restock cleaning supplies
  • Ability to maintain and properly use cleaning equipment
  • Ability to respond to patient, staff and visitor inquiries professionally
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member without constant supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person
  • Understand and apply safety protocols and chemical usage instructions

Job Qualifications

  • Previous related experience in environmental services preferred
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and techniques preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
  • Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
  • Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and reports repairs as needed
  • Performs special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, meeting or exceeding customer service satisfaction goals
