Job Description
NorthBay Health is a respected independent, nonprofit health system serving the Napa, Solano, and Yolo County regions. The health system operates two acute-care hospitals, including a Level II Trauma Center and a Level III NICU maternity unit, along with a cancer center, urgent care locations, and a growing network of primary and specialty care clinics. With a dedication to providing accessible, high-quality care, NorthBay Health is nationally recognized for quality services such as cardiovascular care, neuroscience, orthopedics, surgery, and outpatient specialties. The organization has earned prestigious designations like Magnet with Distinction for nursing and multiple U.S. News and World Report high performing recognitions. NorthBay Health is committed to being the trusted healthcare partner of choice for the communities it serves and offers an environment where employees can grow and contribute meaningfully while supporting community health.
At NorthBay Health, the Environmental Services Aide plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and infection control within the healthcare facilities. Working under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisors and at the direction of the Director, the Environmental Services Aide is responsible for completing assigned tasks and work assignments in accordance with municipal, county, state, and federally mandated standards of safety, cleanliness, and infection control. This role requires a commitment to upholding the highest standards in healthcare sanitation to ensure patient safety and comfort.
The Environmental Services Aide completes all daily cleaning assignments, adhering closely to the training and established standard work procedures within stipulated time requirements. The role involves effective communication with patients, visitors, staff, and leadership, promoting a respectful and professional environment. The aide is accountable for the proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, using janitorial equipment safely and effectively, and accurately maintaining required documentation. Compliance with infection prevention policies such as proper hand hygiene and universal precautions is integral to the position. The Environmental Services Aide prioritizes duties to respond effectively to changing demands in assigned work areas and supports facility leadership by meeting or exceeding organizational standards required by The Joint Commission, Patient Safety, and the Department of Health Services.
Further responsibilities include operating UV disinfection equipment according to training and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors. NorthBay Health seeks candidates who embody the True North values - Nurture/Care, Own It, Respect Relationships, Build Trust, and Hardwire Excellence - which guide behavior, accountability, teamwork, and commitment to quality patient care.
Candidates for this role typically hold a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably possess at least one year of experience in the industrial janitorial industry. Experience in healthcare environmental services, including cleaning patient rooms, exam rooms, restrooms, general public spaces, and floors, is strongly desired. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, peers, and leadership are essential. The role requires the ability to follow complex instructions and retain training related to disaster response to ensure the continuation of critical services.
Compensation for the Environmental Services Aide position ranges from $28.00 to $34.04 per hour, with the specific hourly rate based on years of experience. A 10% per diem differential is included, along with generous shift differentials. This is a primarily onsite position reflecting the nature of healthcare service delivery.
NorthBay Health offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; life, disability, and long-term care coverage; paid time off including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and bereavement; a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match; education reimbursement; professional development and training programs; Employee Assistance Program; wellness and recognition programs; shift differentials; and market-based compensation reviews and increases. This package ensures that employees are well-supported both professionally and personally.
Joining NorthBay Health means becoming part of a dedicated team focused on improving community well-being and delivering compassionate, effective healthcare solutions. Throughout the patient's healthcare journey, every team member plays a crucial role in making sure individuals feel valued, respected, and cared for, reflecting NorthBay Health's commitment to excellence and community partnership.
