The current opportunity at USA Health is for a Healthcare Cleaning Technician responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of non-clinical and clinical environments within the healthcare setting. The role plays a crucial part in supporting infection control and ensuring hospital-acquired infections are minimized through diligent sanitation practices. The Healthcare Cleaning Technician will be involved in cleaning administrative offices, common areas, patient rooms, and bathrooms while handling cleaning supplies and equipment with proper care. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waste disposal, surface disinfection, replenishing disposables, and handling soiled linens. Emphasis is placed on adherence to safety standards and infection control protocols to create a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

This position requires daily interaction with the hospital ecosystem, including communication with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and team members. The technician must exhibit strong customer service skills and work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team to improve unit performance continuously. Familiarity with hospital policies, confidentiality standards, and compliance procedures are imperative as the role entails handling sensitive areas and information. The ideal candidate must commit to regular attendance, the ability to work defined schedules including overtime, and uphold ethical standards consistent with USA Health’s core values.

Job Duties

  • Cleans and services non-clinical areas including common areas and administrative offices with minimal exposure to biohazard waste
  • assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment and replaces them appropriately
  • maintains cleanliness and stock of cleaning cart
  • controls issued keys and monitors issued beepers
  • maintains safe working environment using proper safety equipment and signage
  • sweeps, damp mops, wet washes, vacuums floors, stairways, and halls
  • empties waste baskets and trash containers and replaces liners
  • cleans fixtures, doors, surfaces, furniture, and cabinets
  • cleans and sanitizes bathrooms preventing hospital-acquired infections
  • washes plumbing fixtures
  • replenishes disposables such as towels, soap, toilet paper, and seat covers
  • removes soiled linen bags and places them into soiled linen carts
  • makes vacant beds and prepares patient rooms
  • changes, cleans, reinstalls cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and blinds
  • wears protective clothing as required in special areas
  • locks and secures doors after work
  • handles recyclable materials
  • uses chemical disinfectants per infection control procedures
  • follows instructions regarding chemical and supply use
  • notifies supervisors of needed repairs or hazards
  • communicates effectively with healthcare team, patients, families, and staff
  • maintains accurate records and uses electronic devices for data entry
  • cooperates and assists with orientation of new employees
  • adheres to all compliance and safety standards and hospital policies
  • completes all mandatory educational requirements
