The Environmental Services Aide role at Montefiore Nyack Hospital is a vital position focused on maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the hospital’s patient rooms and public areas. This position operates primarily during night shifts, from 11 PM to 7:30 AM, with an alternating schedule that includes weekends and rotating days. The Environmental Services Aide plays a key role in infection control and hygiene, helping to ensure that patients, staff, and visitors are in an environment that supports health and wellbeing. The hourly starting rate for this role is $20.95, with adjustments based on shift differentials, experience, education, and other relevant factors.
The primary duties for the Environmental Services Aide include comprehensive cleaning and sanitizing tasks such as bathroom maintenance, patient room cleaning, discharge cleaning, trash and linen removal, floor care including dust mopping, wet mopping, and burnishing. The aide must be proficient with techniques and equipment, demonstrating efficiency and attention to detail, especially in the timely preparation of rooms for new patients within an hour of discharge. Additionally, responsibilities extend to participating in hospital-wide performance improvement activities, following established organizational standards for teamwork, communication, appearance, responsiveness, and excellence in service.
This role requires exemplary customer service skills, including effective communication with diverse populations, positive interactions, and addressing customer concerns professionally. Environmental Services Aides contribute to the overall hospital mission by engaging in continuous learning and development, adhering to safety regulations, and supporting the physical environment through special assignments like meeting setups and moving projects. Job Duties
- Demonstrates proficiency in cleaning bathrooms including fixtures and floor areas
- Demonstrates proficiency in patient room cleaning with germicidal disinfectants
- Performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms within 60 minutes and communicates with Bed Control office
- Collects and removes trash and linen following procedures
- Dust mops, wet mops, and burnishes flooring in assigned areas
- Participates in hospital-wide performance improvement activities
- Provides positive customer service and effective communication
- Completes projects and special assignments as required
- Adheres to hospital standards on working together, empowerment, communication, appearance, responsiveness, and excellence in service
