The Environmental Services Aide position at Allina Health plays a critical role in supporting these organizational goals. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of healthcare environments, which directly impacts patient recovery, staff efficiency, and visitor experience. The position is a part-time, permanent evening shift role requiring 20 hours per week, typically involving every other weekend rotation with 8-hour shifts. The pay range for this role is $20.95 to $27.23 per hour, reflective of factors such as experience, education, and union agreements. Additional shift, weekend, and other differentials may apply to increase overall earnings.

In this role, the Environmental Services Aide is primarily responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting all areas within the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, operating rooms, exam and treatment rooms, care centers, and public spaces. They ensure that health and safety standards are met rigorously, minimizing potential hazards and promoting a healing atmosphere. The aide also handles the collection and transportation of solid and infectious waste, maintaining hygiene standards in adherence to safety protocols. Stocking and organizing clean linen supplies, utilizing hospital cleaning equipment effectively, and reporting any repair needs form part of the daily duties. The position requires physical endurance to perform medium work tasks, including lifting weights up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies or at least 6 months similar work experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently
  • Willingness to work permanent evening shifts and every other weekend rotation
  • Ability to comply with union contract terms and conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of environmental services experience or relevant education
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Good physical stamina to perform medium work and lifting tasks

Job Duties

  • Cleans, sanitizes and disinfects all areas of healthcare facility
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient rooms, operating rooms, exam rooms, treatment rooms, care centers and public areas
  • Collects and transports solid and infectious waste within the healthcare facility
  • Stocks clean linen in linen room and departments
  • Utilizes hospital equipment and supplies in a safe and effective manner
  • Keeps cleaning cart organized, clean and stocked
  • Reports potential and actual safety hazards and building items in need of repair or replacement
  • Performs other duties as assigned
