The role of the Environmental Services (EVS) Staff at The Christ Hospital is essential for patient safety and the overall cleanliness of the hospital. In addition to cleaning responsibilities, the EVS staff acts as frontline ambassadors for patient interaction. Duties such as leaving a housekeeper’s note and a hospital packet in patient rooms upon discharge are designed to enhance patient comfort and provide accessible contact information if further assistance is needed. Confidential handling of patient information aligns with hospital policies and federal regulations, emphasizing the hospital's stance on privacy and the importance of confidentiality in healthcare settings.
This position requires basic computer skills and the ability to operate hospital-specific systems such as the NaviCare system and MS Office Outlook for communication and bed tracking tasks. Annual safety and confidentiality training ensure that the staff member remains well-informed and compliant with hospital standards. While experience is preferred, individuals with a high school diploma or GED and a willingness to learn and grow in the hospital environment are encouraged to apply. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- one year of working experience preferred but not required
- basic reading, writing, and math skills required
- basic customer service skills preferred
- ability to learn and use MS Office Outlook
- ability to learn NaviCare bed tracking system
- ability and willingness to pass annual safety and confidentiality tests
- adherence to hospital confidentiality policies
- CHEST certification within one year preferred but not required

Job Duties
- Clean patient rooms daily with approved chemicals and cleaning procedures
- clean non-patient areas including nurses stations, offices, waiting rooms, and restrooms
- terminally clean patient rooms upon discharge
- use wet floor signs and caution alerts to ensure safety
- follow infection control procedures including proper PPE use
- interact with patients, visitors, and staff promoting a service attitude
- leave housekeeper’s notes and hospital packets in patient rooms upon discharge
