StarCare Specialty Health System is currently seeking to hire a full-time Environmental Service Worker to join their team. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall hygiene of StarCare's multiple facilities. The Environmental Service Worker will be responsible for ensuring that all areas, including restrooms, offices, and common spaces, remain clean and sanitized according to organization standards and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and possess knowledge of various cleaning procedures, chemicals, and maintenance equipment. Working under the close supervision of the Environmental Services Manager, this position is non-exempt and overtime eligible, offering a full-time schedule that will be discussed during the interview process.

The Environmental Service Worker’s duties include cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, and restocking supplies, as well as operating floor maintenance equipment such as buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors. Additionally, the candidate may be required to perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment and assist with inspections to ensure buildings meet cleanliness standards. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow directions, and a capacity to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and customers. Furthermore, compassion toward the people supported by StarCare and adherence to confidentiality requirements are critical qualities in a successful candidate.

Job Requirements

  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check
  • must have reliable transportation, a Texas driver's license, and be insurable under the Agency's insurance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in environmental services preferred
  • attention to detail
  • ability to follow directions and remain on task independently
  • familiarity with cleaning products and cleaning equipment
  • ability to handle floor maintenance equipment such as buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors
  • ability to maintain effective working relationship with other employees, customers in service and the public
  • ability to show compassion towards the people supported by StarCare
  • must abide by all StarCare confidentiality requirements

Job Duties

  • Cleans, dusts, and disinfects areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities
  • cleans office furniture, walls, windows, and floors, and empties trash
  • moves office furniture and other items to ensure proper cleaning
  • operates floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors
  • restocks custodial supplies and replenishes soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers
  • may perform minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment
  • may assist in inspecting buildings and facilities for cleanliness and report needed repairs
  • assists supervisor or other agency staff with special projects or assignments as needed
  • must adhere to all StarCare and applicable regulations, rules, and policies
