The Environmental Service Attendant I role at PeaceHealth is a per diem, relief, evening position with a shift length of 8 hours. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment within healthcare settings by performing comprehensive cleaning and sanitizing tasks. The hiring rate for this position ranges from $20.53 to $30.78 per hour, depending on factors such as education, training, experience, and seniority. The job is part of a collective bargaining agreement and may have multiple openings available.
As an Environmental Service Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring hospitality and clinical areas are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following established departmental procedures. Your regular duties will include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning of carpets, washing walls, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures, emptying trash receptacles, restocking supplies, and washing and making beds. You may also be tasked with arranging furniture in conference rooms, maintaining housekeeping carts, restocking paper receptacles, replacing sharps containers, ordering necessary supplies, and storing equipment properly.
Timely response to emergency cleaning requests and close communication with clinical personnel to prioritize cleaning tasks in clinical areas are critical components of the job. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of formal housekeeping experience preferred. Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is also preferred, along with basic computer and communication skills to work effectively within the team.
The working conditions involve continuous movement, physical activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, squatting, and occasional exposure to biohazards, body fluids, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. Environmental Service Attendants must be able to perform their duties in noisy environments and maintain vision and hearing within normal limits, adapting to the visual and mental demands of the position. Job Duties
- Ensure assigned areas are cleaned and disinfected according to departmental procedures
- Dust, mop, vacuum, spot clean carpets, wash walls, ceilings, furniture and fixtures
- Empty trash receptacles and restock supplies
- Wash and make beds
- Set up furniture in conference rooms
- Maintain housekeeping cart and restock paper receptacles
- Replace sharps containers and order supplies essential to the job
