Job Description
University Health is a renowned healthcare institution based in San Antonio, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a safe, clean environment throughout its facilities. As a leader in the healthcare sector, University Health not only focuses on high-quality medical treatments but also emphasizes the importance of a clean and orderly environment to ensure the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The institution adheres strictly to regulatory guidelines set forth by authoritative bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Texas Department of Health, ensuring that all operations meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
The Environmental Services Department of University Health plays a critical role in upholding these standards and supports the overall mission by employing dedicated housekeeping staff who carry out essential cleaning activities. The role they offer is a Full-Time Night Shift position within Environmental Services, specifically designed for individuals who take pride in maintaining hygiene and supporting the hospital's operational needs after hours. This position is vital to the smooth functioning of the healthcare facility, contributing to a healthy environment that prevents infections and promotes wellbeing.
The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for a variety of general housekeeping activities that ensure University Health’s facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming. The position requires strict adherence to safety guidelines, including the handling of potentially hazardous materials like chemical solutions and discarded medical sharps. Employees in this role must be vigilant in reporting maintenance defects to the Plant Engineering Department and must participate actively in emergency assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
Additionally, the position involves the use of cleaning equipment and materials according to the prescribed safety protocols outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets. Housekeeping attendants assist team leaders with cleanup and disposal tasks, further enhancing the department's efficiency and effectiveness. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills because maintaining good guest relations and working cohesively with hospital staff are crucial components for success. Furthermore, the job offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the community by ensuring that environments within the hospital meet health and safety criteria at all times.
This role is well suited for candidates who have completed on-the-job vocational training related to housekeeping and possess prior experience within institutional housekeeping settings. Candidates are expected to demonstrate competency in operating cleaning equipment and managing restroom supplies efficiently. The employment type is full time and scheduled for night shifts, making it ideal for those seeking stable, consistent work hours with the chance to play an essential role in hospital operations. While the posting does not disclose salary specifics, working within University Health offers a supportive environment with opportunities for growth, consistent work, and contributing to a reputable healthcare system.
