The role of Environmental Associate at University Health presents an exciting opportunity for organized and detail-oriented individuals who are committed to contributing to a clean and safe hospital environment. This is a full-time position involving rotating shifts in the Environmental Services Department at the San Antonio location. As an Environmental Associate, you will be integral to the day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of the hospital facilities, which ensures that patients, staff, and visitors experience a hygienic and orderly environment. Your responsibilities will include carrying out general housekeeping tasks, addressing maintenance issues by reporting defects to the Plant Engineering team, and managing hazardous situations like chemical or solution spills and the safe disposal of needles and syringes. This role requires a proactive and safety-conscious approach to maintaining the hospital's standards of cleanliness and safety.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Six months institutional housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to fill liquid soap, toilet paper towel dispenser and other dispensers
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment

Job Duties

  • Carries out general housekeeping activities essential to keeping University Health facilities clean and orderly
  • Reports all maintenance defects to Plant Engineering Department
  • Identifies and reports all chemical or solution spills and discarded needles or syringes
  • Assists with clean ups and disposals as needed
