Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six months experience in environmental services
  • Ability to perform very heavy physical work including lifting over 100 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions including standing, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, and crouching
  • Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and mix them correctly
  • Ability to follow infection prevention controls and isolation procedures
  • Ability to pass 95% of ATP cleanliness testing
  • Ability to use computerized bed tracking and communication systems
  • Willingness to work holiday and weekend rotations
  • Ability to adhere to all safety standards and regulations
  • Ability to complete DOT certification for regulated medical waste transport

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum six months experience as EVS Tech 1 or Tech 2
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and chemical handling
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respond to calls within five minutes
  • Ability to work in specialized areas such as ICU, OB, OR and ED
  • Ability to train and support other team members
  • Basic understanding of hazardous waste handling and disposal
  • Certification from C.H.E.S.T. within 90 days of promotion

Job Duties

  • Responsible for thorough cleaning of assigned areas including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
  • Observes all isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards
  • Maintains EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner
  • Replenishes paper, soap supplies, hand sanitizer
  • Hangs cubicles/drapes according to department policy
  • Coordinates special project assignments including contacting affected departments and posting informational signs
  • Moves furniture, supplies and equipment as requested adhering to safety and lifting procedures
  • Properly mixes and stores chemicals using correct dilution ratios and personal protective equipment
  • Makes beds in accordance with specific area needs and manages bed tracking systems
  • Returns soiled and clean unused mops to proper containers
  • Provides training as needed
  • Adheres to proper handling, transport, and disposal of all waste types including hazardous and infectious materials
  • Performs all duties including project work
  • Uses all cleaning equipment effectively
  • Performs hard surface, carpet and upholstery care, construction cleanup, and trash removal
  • Performs inspections
  • Assists with scheduling, project work, and supplies
  • Completes unit checks and daily shift reports
  • Recommends training topics
  • Resolves conflicts
  • Assists with waste management and hazardous spill cleanup
  • Works float in all areas including ICU, OB, OR and ED
  • Shares knowledge and supports other partners
  • Trains partners
  • Passes 95% of ATP testing
