The Environmental Services Worker at INBH plays a vital role in maintaining hospital cleanliness and hygiene. Reporting directly to the Manager of Plant Operations, this position is responsible for routinely cleaning patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, offices, lounges, lobbies, waiting areas, and restrooms to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for all. The role demands attention to detail, adherence to infection control standards, and excellent interpersonal skills as employees serve as positive representatives of the hospital. Employees must work professionally and courteously, reflecting the hospital's core values in daily tasks. This position involves routine cleaning duties such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, taking out trash, and handling infectious and contaminated waste safely. The Environmental Services Worker must comply with OSHA regulations and hospital policies regarding safety and infection control while demonstrating responsibility in maintaining adequate supplies and using cleaning equipment properly.

Employment in this role is hourly, with employees receiving shift differentials ranging from $1.00 to $3.50 per hour depending on shift timings. Job Requirements

  • At least one year working in a commercial housekeeping position
  • Must have proof of high school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Job Duties

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks of patient's rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, offices, lounges, lobbies, waiting areas, and restrooms
  • Ensure adequate linens are kept in facility
  • Clean areas with disinfectants
  • Refill supplies such as paper products and soap
  • Vacuum, dust, mop, sweep, and take out trash
  • Dispose of infectious/contaminated waste from the facility
  • Comply with established infection control measures, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans
  • Take necessary safety precautions when handling power floor care equipment
  • Follow proper tag out and lock out procedures when working on equipment
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and risk preventive environment
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and standard policies and procedures
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled
  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information
  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality
