Job Description
Donor Development Strategies (DDS) and KSPS are proud to be at the forefront of community engagement and public media advocacy in Spokane. KSPS stands as Spokane's most trustworthy source of quality programming, offering educational, cultural, and informative content to a wide audience within the community. As a key player in promoting the vital role of public media, KSPS is committed to not only delivering excellent programming but also fostering a strong connection with viewers and supporters throughout the region. Their mission is to ensure public media remains accessible, valued, and sustainable for generations to come, making them a cornerstone of the community's cultural fabric.
Joining the team as a Public Media Canvasser presents an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in this mission. This role is more than just a job; it is a chance to actively contribute to preserving and strengthening public media’s impact. The canvasser will be working to build community support and increase donor engagement for PBS through KSPS's affiliate channel. This position offers a fulfilling career path for individuals passionate about public media, community outreach, and fundraising effectiveness. The canvassers serve as important ambassadors, interacting with community members, educating them about the value of public media, and encouraging their support through donations. This is a physically engaging role that requires enthusiasm, dedication, and excellent communication skills.
The employment type for this position includes full-time schedules with working hours from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, designed to maximize community interaction during peak times. The role offers a competitive base pay rate of $20 per hour, complemented by potential weekly bonuses for full-time staff, reflecting the organization’s commitment to rewarding the hard work and dedication of their team members. Additional benefits include paid time off, sick leave, and subsidized healthcare options encompassing vision and dental coverage. The organization also provides a 401(k) retirement savings plan with automatic employer contributions to support long-term financial well-being. Furthermore, travel expenses related to driving on the job are reimbursed at the IRS rate, ensuring canvassers are compensated for their out-of-pocket costs.
No prior experience is required to join the team, as comprehensive paid training is provided to prepare candidates thoroughly for their responsibilities. This makes the position ideal for individuals new to public media, fundraising, or canvassing who are eager to learn and grow professionally in a supportive environment. The work is primarily conducted outdoors, requiring individuals to have the stamina to walk for 5 or more hours per day. This is ideal for those who enjoy active roles and engaging personally with others to make a tangible difference. Ultimately, the Public Media Canvasser plays a crucial role in sustaining the quality and availability of public media programming by cultivating a network of informed, engaged donors who help keep KSPS and PBS thriving.
