The Entry Level Driver Trainee position at Performance Foodservice is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in commercial driving within the food distribution industry. The role primarily involves learning to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks both intrastate and interstate on various routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Trainees will engage in comprehensive hands-on training through the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, which includes ride-alongs with experienced driver trainers. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip safety inspections, securing and inspecting freight, and managing delivery paperwork accurately. Additionally, trainees assist with unloading products, verifying deliveries with customers, handling cash or check collections when applicable, and maintaining cleanliness in vehicles and loading areas.
