These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG stands out not only by delivering high-quality food products but also by providing a comprehensive suite of services that help businesses enhance operations, develop menus, select the right products, and implement effective operational strategies. The company brings together a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who foster close partnerships with customers. This collaboration ensures that each customer receives personalized support tailored to their unique business needs.

PFG’s reputation extends beyond just providing food — it is recognized for its dedication to helping independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams by offering more than just products, but a full package of solutions, expertise, and encouragement. With a long-standing commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunity in employment, Performance Foodservice ensures a respectful and supportive work environment for all employees. This commitment is reflected in their equal employment opportunity policies, their dedication to fair pay, and their ongoing efforts to maintain a work culture grounded in respect and recognition.

The company offers a competitive salary package for their positions, including an average annual pay of $70,000 to $80,000, alongside additional perks such as company-provided boots and uniforms, and free product for employees. Beyond financial compensation, PFG emphasizes a work culture that prioritizes employee wellness from day one, inclusive benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Employees are offered health and wellness benefits starting the first day, access to an employee stock purchase plan, employer-matched 401K plans, education assistance, paid time off, and much more.

The role on offer is an entry-level driver trainee position designed for individuals interested in beginning their career as professional drivers within the food distribution industry. This position offers ideal opportunities to gain hands-on experience driving tractor trailers or straight trucks. Trainees will learn to handle local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes both intrastate and interstate. During the training period and beyond, drivers will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of food and food-related products directly to customers in a manner that complies with company guidelines and stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

As a Driver Trainee, you will engage in a structured training program that includes classroom and on-the-road instruction. The role requires attention to detail when conducting vehicle safety checks, performing freight inspections and ensuring that delivery documentation is meticulously completed. This position also calls for professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to uphold the company's commitment to exceptional customer service. Trainees will function as integral members of the team, contributing to the overall success of the department and company.

Through this role, trainees will receive hands-on experience by riding along with an experienced driver, assisting with deliveries, and progressively taking on more driving responsibilities. The company supports growth within the position, aiming to develop proficient drivers who can confidently manage all aspects of delivery logistics including loading, unloading, securing freight, maintaining vehicle and delivery records, and adhering to all safety protocols. This entry-level role is foundational for building a successful career in the transportation and food distribution sector with a company committed to employee growth and success.
