Job Description

George's Corner is a beloved establishment with a rich history dating back to 1934, nestled in the heart of North Portland. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and loyal customer base, George's Corner has become a staple in the community, offering not just a place to enjoy quality drinks and food, but a welcoming environment where locals and visitors alike can connect and unwind. The bar prides itself on maintaining a warm and friendly neighborhood feel while continuously expanding its reach and reputation. As a small but dedicated team, George's Corner values reliability, hard work, and a strong sense of camaraderie among staff members, which is essential for maintaining smooth operations and delivering excellent customer service.

We are currently seeking a new team member to join our night shift crew, complementing our existing night bar back who has been with us for over four years. This role is pivotal in supporting our bartenders during busy nighttime hours and involves significant customer interaction, stocking, and some cooking responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging with patrons, assisting bartenders in their duties, replenishing glassware, ice, and supplies, and preparing simple bar food according to established recipes provided through our in-house training. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness throughout the dining room, patio, restrooms, and kitchen prep areas is a crucial part of the position. The role demands a strong work ethic and impeccable reliability, as being part of a small team means that missing shifts can place extreme hardship on fellow team members.

This position is a long shift from 6 pm to 3 am and requires flexibility in scheduling initially until a regular pattern can be established. We prioritize non-drinkers for this role and consider experience with lottery and Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) permits a valuable asset. The first 90 days serve as a trial period to ensure the right fit for both the candidate and the team. We offer a dynamic workplace where dedication and teamwork are highly rewarded within a historic and community-focused bar setting.
