The organization is deeply committed to providing high-quality care, emphasizing warmth and neighborly kindness across its extensive network. HonorHealth serves diverse communities throughout the greater Phoenix area, combining expert medical care with a collaborative and supportive work environment. Their culture highlights the importance of each team member in delivering exceptional patient experiences and promoting overall health and well-being.
Within this esteemed system, the Deer Valley Medical Center hosts a vital Food Service department that plays an essential role in patient care and satisfaction. The part-time Entree Cook position at Deer Valley Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the quality and nutrition of food served to patients and staff. This role is categorized under Food Service and involves working day shifts, making it ideal for individuals seeking a meaningful job in a healthcare food preparation setting.
As an Entree Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking all cafeteria and catering foods, adhering meticulously to therapeutic prescribed diets and standard meal requirements. This includes the preparation of specialized diets such as pureed, salt-free, mechanical soft, renal, and ADA-restricted foods, ensuring all patients receive meals tailored to their dietary needs. The role demands proficiency in cooking a wide variety of foods, including hot entrees, vegetables, starches, soups, sauces, and gravies, all prepared under rigorous standards for quality, freshness, appearance, and taste.
Your day-to-day duties will include operating an array of kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, steamers, and food processors while managing inventory, maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring compliance with health department regulations. Accuracy in measuring and mixing ingredients following standardized recipes is essential to maintain consistency and meet dietary guidelines.
Additionally, the Entree Cook supports the food service team by assisting and sometimes directing other food service workers, contributing to a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. The role demands excellent organizational skills to plan the day’s production, adjust quantities based on patient census and special menu needs, and document temperature checks diligently for both prepared foods and storage refrigeration units to guarantee safety and quality. The job also emphasizes maintaining required sanitary levels throughout the food preparation process to foster a clean and safe working environment.
This position requires at least one year of related experience, a willingness to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting, and compliance with food handling certifications. A Food Handlers Card is mandatory upon hire, while vocational or specialized training and a Driver License are preferred but not required. The Entree Cook at Deer Valley Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting patient recovery and satisfaction through nutritional excellence and food safety, contributing to HonorHealth’s mission of caring for the community with kindness and professionalism.
