Job Description
Occidental College is a distinguished liberal arts college located in Los Angeles, California, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and inclusion. Established in 1887, Occidental College has built a strong reputation for fostering intellectual curiosity and community engagement among its students, faculty, and staff. As a private educational institution, Occidental offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate programs and is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes the personal and professional growth of its students. The college values collaboration, equity, and innovation as core principles guiding its approach to higher education and student success.
The Enrollment Communications Manager position at Occidental College is an essential role within the Admission Department, responsible for leading strategic communications initiatives that drive student recruitment, admission, and enrollment goals. Reporting directly to the Dean of Admission, the manager will develop and execute multi-channel communications strategies that engage prospective students from initial contact through enrollment. This full-time, exempt position offers an indefinite duration, reflecting the college's commitment to sustained and impactful enrollment communications.
In this role, the Enrollment Communications Manager will oversee segmented communication campaigns using the Slate CRM platform to optimize recruitment, application completion, admission, yield, and onboarding efforts. The manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the prospective student experience by managing web content, social media channels—including Instagram and other platforms relevant to prospective students—and CRM-driven outreach. The position requires close collaboration with marketing leadership and campus partners to ensure messaging is consistent, timely, and student-centered.
Key responsibilities include managing strategic communication calendars, event-related communications, and virtual event execution support. The manager will also maintain accuracy and consistency of admission and new student website content to align with enrollment priorities. In addition, the role involves reviewing first-year and transfer applications as part of the admission process, providing administrative support such as meeting documentation, and overseeing print material coordination with the marketing office.
This position demands a candidate with exceptional organizational skills, strong writing and editing abilities, and proficiency in digital content creation and communication tools such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop. The manager must be detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines, and adaptable to a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. A commitment to equity, inclusion, and effective collaboration across diverse teams is essential.
The compensation range for this role is between $70,304 and $75,000 per year, with the final offer depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic factors. Occidental College offers a comprehensive benefits package alongside competitive salary compensation, reflecting its dedication to employee well-being and professional growth. This position represents an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the college's mission by enhancing the communications strategy that supports student success and institutional enrollment goals.
