This full-time position available within the Traffic Operations Division is focused on electrical and engineering support functions related to the maintenance and inspection of traffic and streetlight electrical systems. Starting pay for this role is $23.98 per hour with a Monday through Friday work schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a stable and predictable work environment. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in engineering technology, land surveying, or related fields and possess experience in electrical inspections, mapping, and construction oversight.

The primary responsibilities include inspecting and verifying maintenance work performed by contractors, ensuring the quality and compliance of new lighting and electrical installations across city projects. The role involves collecting and managing asset data using GPS technology to keep the maintenance program current and reliable. Candidates will be expected to verify electrical circuit safety, assess system operations using specialized tools such as power meters and light meters, and collaborate with utility companies such as Evergy for service validation and circuit planning.

Additional duties include using AutoCAD and as-built maps to update electrical system layouts, preparing detailed field reports, overseeing night work operations, and participating in snow removal efforts to ensure uninterrupted city services. Proficiency in NEC and NESC codes is essential, as well as the ability to handle smart city projects and telecommunications equipment attachments safely and effectively.

This role demands a candidate who can reliably manage multiple technical inspections and data collection activities, maintaining meticulous records to support the department's mission.
