The Data Center Engineering Technician role at Amazon plays a critical part in maintaining the heartbeat of mission-critical technology infrastructure. Responsibilities include working with diesel generators, fuel systems, three-phase electrical systems including switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, battery systems, CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, chemical water systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
In this role, you will supervise contractors and service personnel who perform maintenance tasks, ensure that on-site safety protocols are strictly followed, and participate in root cause analysis for operational issues. The position demands a proactive approach in performing preventative maintenance, operational readings, and providing detailed metric reports to senior engineers. You will also manage on-site operations including the oversight of contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with established procedures and regulations. The work environment is dynamic and may require physical activities such as walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working shifts that may extend up to 12 hours including on-call rotations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 plus years of data center engineering experience
- Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
- Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, diesel generators, UPS, PDU, cooling systems
- Ability to work on a rotating 12-hour shift including on-call duty
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting up to 40 pounds and working on ladders
- Must adhere to safety protocols consistently
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- 2 plus years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- 2 plus years of data center engineering experience
- 2 plus years of relevant work experience
- 4 plus years of data center engineering experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience in data center engineering
Job Duties
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance including filter changes, battery system PMs, rack and diesel generator PMs
- Perform root cause analysis for operational issues
- Troubleshoot facility and rack level events
- Ensure all personnel on-site follow safety protocols
- Work on-call and rotating schedule as needed
- Take daily operational readings and provide metrics reporting to senior engineers
