The role available is a full-time, overnight Non-Management Hotel Engineer position located at 1230 J Street, Sacramento, California. This is a critical position working the 12:00am to 8:30am shift, offering a competitive pay rate of $54.35 per hour. The Hotel Engineer is responsible for addressing and resolving guest repair requests and performing preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on a variety of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Candidate will demonstrate journeyman-level expertise in multiple technical disciplines such as air conditioning and refrigeration, carpentry, pneumatic and electronic systems, and energy conservation.

This position requires advanced troubleshooting skills and the ability to safely perform complex repairs in compliance with company standards as well as local and national codes. The engineer will conduct routine property inspections to identify safety hazards, equipment failures, or maintenance needs and take corrective actions promptly. Responsibilities also include maintaining maintenance inventory, requisitioning parts and supplies, using engineering computer software for preventive maintenance and energy management, and operating building control systems including shutdown valves and safety systems.

In addition to technical skills, the role demands excellent communication skills to effectively interact with guests and other team members, ensuring maintenance issues are resolved efficiently and guests are satisfied. The engineer may have opportunities to train and mentor junior engineers and act in supervisory capacities during the absence of supervisors or management. Safety is paramount, so following company and OSHA safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and proper storage of materials, is mandatory.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a two-year technical diploma in HVAC/refrigeration, extensive experience in general maintenance, electrical, and refrigeration systems, as well as some hotel engineering experience. Required qualifications include a valid driver's license, certification in refrigeration or electrical (earned or in progress), universal CFC certification, and compliance with all relevant state and federal certifications and licensing.
