The position available at TownePlace Suites Huntsville is for an Engineer – a critical role dedicated to ensuring the property maintains the highest possible standards of physical upkeep and guest satisfaction. This role requires responding promptly and effectively to repair requests submitted by guests, conducting preventative maintenance on rooms and public spaces, and adhering to all health and safety codes, including those specific to the pool and spa areas. The Engineer must perform full property walks at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting and resolving maintenance issues consistently. Furthermore, maintaining a clean and well-organized workspace is essential.

Job Requirements

  • Technical, trade or vocational school degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of work-related experience in a commercial facility, hospitality or related field preferred
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Must be able to understand and follow established guidelines and procedures
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns raised by co-workers and guests
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Must have a desire to serve all guests
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to perform this job
  • Must be willing to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Arrive and clock in on time for every shift worked and clock out at the scheduled shift ending time
  • Clock in/out for breaks at the designated times on your schedule
  • Provide sufficient notice when calling out for a scheduled shift
  • Ability to perform physical working demands such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, standing, walking, repetitive motions, and lifting 50+ lbs
  • Must read, write, understand and communicate effectively using English

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile
  • Use guests' names whenever possible to ensure a welcoming experience
  • Work together with team members to contribute to great guest satisfaction scores
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and a sense of urgency
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all hotel features and amenities
  • Support and be aware of all groups and events at the hotel
  • Utilize relevant technology and answer all incoming calls with friendly service
  • Keep all workspaces clean and well-organized, both front and back of house
  • Participate in cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed
  • Greet guests warmly even while performing cleaning duties
  • Complete all operational checklists accurately and on schedule every shift
  • Submit accurate and timely shift handover reports
  • Maintain a clean, approved uniform, wear nametag and smile
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with team members
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude to meet business and guest needs
  • Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming environment and positive workplace
  • Respond to guest repair requests and document completion in electronic work orders
  • Keep all preventative maintenance work up to date and on schedule according to the hotel PM Program
  • Follow all safety measures and health codes for pool and spa areas
  • Report emergencies and respond to safety concerns promptly
  • Conduct full property walks at beginning and end of shifts, addressing maintenance needs
  • Keep maintenance areas clean and organized throughout the shift
