Job Description

Wellness House is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families affected by cancer. Committed to the vision of a community where all people impacted by cancer can thrive, Wellness House offers its programs at no cost, complementing traditional medical treatment with comprehensive psychosocial support. Located in Hinsdale with partner locations, Wellness House provides education, support, and empowerment designed to improve participants' physical and emotional well-being. The organization is driven by a meaningful mission to enhance quality of life and foster healing through a holistic approach to cancer care, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and cancer health equity. With a collaborative work environment and a culture rooted in mindful communication and professional growth, Wellness House stands as a beacon of hope and support for cancer patients and their families across the Chicagoland area.

The Engagement Manager (EM) role at Wellness House is a dynamic, full-time, salaried position within the Programs Department, reporting to the Associate Director of Programs. The EM plays a pivotal role in engaging the community and healthcare professionals by managing the Community Engagement Process (CEP) and the Participant Engagement Process (PEP). This role involves building and nurturing relationships with healthcare providers, coordinating program and professional events, and overseeing the Volunteer Ambassador Program. In this position, the EM is responsible for supervising independent contractors, interns, and volunteers, contributing to a productive and supportive work environment.

The EM ensures that all individuals impacted by cancer are informed about Wellness House’s programs and are connected to appropriate resources and events. With responsibilities spanning event planning, community outreach, program facilitation, volunteer management, and direct participant engagement, this role demands creativity, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills. The EM works closely with program directors and managers to develop and implement quarterly program plans, coordinate logistics for events, and evaluate program outcomes to ensure continuous improvement.

This position requires a commitment to supporting diverse populations and advancing cancer health equity by identifying speakers and educational content aligned with psychosocial oncology trends and organizational values. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in relationship building, community resource identification, and engaging with diverse community leaders, especially in areas serving South and West sides of Chicago.

With an estimated hiring range of $67,000 - $74,500, Wellness House offers a comprehensive benefits package including employer-paid medical, dental, life, long-term disability, and AD&D insurance premiums, 403(b) with employer match, annual incentive bonuses, on-site gym access, and generous sick and vacation time. Employees work a 40-hour week, including an evening per week and one Saturday per month to support essential events. This role also provides opportunities for professional development, leadership growth, and team building within a positive and inclusive workplace that values transparency, ethical standards, and continuous learning.

Joining Wellness House means becoming part of a team dedicated to holistic cancer care that goes beyond medical treatment to address emotional and social needs, creating meaningful impact in participants' lives through compassion, education, and community connection. If you are an ethical, results-driven professional with a passion for community engagement, event management, and supporting individuals affected by cancer, the Engagement Manager role at Wellness House is an outstanding opportunity to apply your skills and make a difference.
