Job Description

Homesense is a part of TJX Companies, a Fortune 100 company and the world’s leading off-price retailer known for its diverse and vibrant team environment. TJX operates globally with a portfolio of leading retail brands including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods, Homesense, Sierra, Winners, and TK Maxx. The company prides itself on offering numerous opportunities for career growth, learning, and development across its four global Home Offices, Distribution Centers, and Retail Stores. As a member of the TJX family, employees participate in a culture that embraces diversity, fosters collaboration, and prioritizes individual development alongside team success.

Working at Homesense means joining a dynamic retail environment focused on delivering an exceptional shopping experience to customers. The Homesense store location in Knoxville, Tennessee, offers employees the unique chance to contribute to a fast-paced retail setting where merchandising standards and customer engagement are essential. The position available is hourly based, with a starting pay range between $14.00 and $14.50 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. This role provides an excellent platform for those looking to grow their career within the retail industry while working within a supportive and inclusive environment.

The role focuses on executing receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring associates process merchandise efficiently and work together cohesively as a team. A key aspect of this position is fostering a positive customer experience through active engagement, maintaining an organized and clean store environment, and exemplifying excellent customer service at all times. The successful candidate will take responsibility for orchestrating the flow of merchandise from delivery trucks to the sales floor, training and mentoring associates on effective processing, and guaranteeing adherence to proper tagging, hanging, and coding of products. This ensures that merchandise is presented attractively and is readily accessible to customers.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the role requires close communication with management to ensure tasks are completed in line with the store’s overall plan and priorities. Monitoring team productivity, coaching as needed, and maintaining back stock organization and rotation are also important. This position supports store compliance with recycling and hazardous waste programs where applicable and encourages safe work practices to maintain a safe environment for all employees and customers. The role embodies leadership in promoting honesty, integrity, and confidentiality within the team, reinforcing TJX’s values and merchandising philosophy.

Employees in this position benefit from a collaborative work environment with clear expectations and opportunities to participate in growth initiatives such as training development and shrink reduction programs. The organization values communication and feedback, recognizing individual contributions and fostering continuous improvement. This position is ideal for individuals who are adaptable, detail-oriented, and motivated to work in a team-oriented retail setting that offers both professional and personal growth opportunities.
