The role of the Engagement Coordinator is integral to Orchard Senior Living’s resident engagement department. This non-exempt, hourly position reports directly to the Engagement Director and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing a variety of engagement programs catering to the physical, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs of senior residents. The coordinator crafts a balanced blend of productive, leisure, self-care, restorative, and spiritual activities to enrich residents’ daily experiences while respecting their individuality and promoting independence. Key responsibilities include executing cognitive activities such as storytelling, music, and arts; recreational activities like games and physical exercises including pet therapy; and facilitating self-care activities that empower residents, such as gardening or cooking, to maintain their self-worth and autonomy.

The Engagement Coordinator also plays a vital role in personalizing activity programs based on individual medical histories and preferences, encouraging family involvement, and mentoring staff members. They lead monthly newsletters, quarterly events, and community memory care programs, while managing volunteers and scheduling outside entertainment to enhance resident engagement. In addition to program management, the coordinator holds budgetary responsibilities, oversees hiring and training of assistants and drivers, and ensures that activity spaces remain welcoming and accessible. This role demands creativity, patience, strong organizational skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The physical and cognitive demands include lifting, standing, walking, critical thinking, and clear communication.

The ideal candidate for this position is at least 21 years old, holds CPR certification, a valid driver’s license, has prior experience in senior care, and meets health and safety training standards. The Engagement Coordinator must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for enriching senior lives, and the ability to adapt activities to the unique abilities and interests of residents. This role requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the diverse needs of the community.
