The role of Employment Consultant at AtWork! is a full-time position designed to have a direct and positive impact on both individuals with disabilities and the local business community. Employment Consultants are vital team members who provide ongoing assessment and individualized career planning, helping link the skills and talents of the people served with the needs of businesses in the community. This role requires developing personalized career plans based on discovery and vocational assessments as well as Person Centered Plans aligned with the goals and interests of the individual. Employment Consultants actively communicate with their caseload and the individuals' support networks, regularly updating and collaborating for successful employment outcomes. They also cultivate and maintain strong relationships with employers and community organizations to create and sustain meaningful job opportunities.

In addition to job development and placement, Employment Consultants offer professional assistance throughout the hiring process, including job preparation, interview coaching, orientation, and training. They also support community inclusion through volunteer opportunities and social engagement activities. Consultants serve as job coaches by helping design tasks, providing training, and implementing support strategies to ensure the person served is successful in their role. Moreover, they troubleshoot workplace challenges, fostering positive relationships between employees and employers. With a strong focus on confidentiality, adherence to HIPAA guidelines, and detailed documentation, Employment Consultants contribute significantly to the mission of enhancing independence and quality of life for people with disabilities.

  • Ability to pass a five year Driving Record Check in alignment with AtWork!'s policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience working with people with disabilities preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement personalized career planning for persons served based on the individual's skills, goals, and interests by conducting discovery and vocational assessments
  • Maintain communication with the people served and their circle of support regarding all facets of service
  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses and other organizations in the community
  • Provide professional assistance through job identification and analysis, interviews, job preparation, and new hire orientation including training
  • Support community engagement activities and volunteering opportunities
  • Market to employers, job develop, and secure community-based employment with minimum wage compensation or greater
  • Facilitate job starts and provide training and consultations to employers and co-workers to establish natural supports
  • Identify opportunities for career growth and facilitate further training or coaching
  • Job coach persons served using task design, training, and support strategies
  • Troubleshoot problems at community job sites to maintain positive employer-employee relationships
  • Document daily reports, billable time, case notes detailing services, progress, incidents, and goals
  • Maintain confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management or the Director of Mission Services
