The Patient Care Coordinator role at BluePearl Pet Hospital is a crucial position designed to ensure seamless communication and patient flow between the front and back areas of the hospital. This role involves managing client interactions, supporting clinical teams, and coordinating the movement of patients through multiple specialties. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for monitoring clients in the waiting and exam rooms, providing updates on patient status and wait times, and assisting with refreshments and informational materials. You will serve as a liaison between the customer service representatives and clinical staff, helping to reduce wait times and enhance the overall client experience. This role also involves triaging medical phone calls, coordinating communications between clients and doctors, and performing follow-up calls after emergency room visits to ensure satisfaction and continuity of care.

This position requires evening, rotating weekend, and holiday availability to meet the scheduling demands of an emergency and specialty hospital environment. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in specialty or emergency veterinary medicine and hold certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). Job Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)

Job Duties

  • Monitor the waiting and exam room clients
  • assist with refreshments and marketing materials
  • update clients on wait time and patient status
  • maintain open communication with the doctor and technical staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow regarding long wait times
  • coordinate patient flow between multiple specialties
  • manage Cornerstone hospital census
  • facilitate discharge appointments for all services
  • perform patient discharges in coordination with the technical team
  • manage patient discharge and visit board and exam rooms
  • ensure comfortable and timely visits and discharges
  • check ER doctor message bin and triage messages for doctors
  • facilitate solutions for clients
  • receive and address patient care telephone calls from the general public
  • call previous day's ER clients for follow-up feedback for both locations
