Job Description
Sound Physicians is a physician-founded and led medical group dedicated to prioritizing patient care by better supporting clinicians. Established with the belief that enhanced support for healthcare providers leads to improved patient outcomes, Sound Physicians has become a leading name in emergency medicine and hospital medicine across the United States. The company emphasizes clinical excellence, leadership growth, and collaborative partnerships within its network. With a presence spanning numerous hospitals and healthcare facilities, Sound Physicians aims to seamlessly integrate care across Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Critical Care to ensure smoother patient transitions and better health outcomes for the communities it serves.
The opportunity to join the Aiken team as an Emergency Medicine Physician offers a rewarding career in a supportive and dynamic clinical environment. Located at Aiken Regional Medical Center and Sweetwater in North Augusta, South Carolina, this role involves working within a cohesive team that includes 16 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers, all committed to a patient-first culture. The position includes meaningful participation in hospital committees such as credentials, medical executive, sepsis, peer review, and citizenship committees, giving physicians the chance to contribute actively to the hospital's success and quality improvement initiatives. Aiken Regional Medical Center is a 273-bed community hospital accredited as a certified chest pain and stroke center, equipped with modern facilities including a 30-bed emergency department and a newly built 10-bed free-standing emergency department.
This job offers flexible scheduling options, including part-time and full-time roles, to accommodate the diverse professional and personal needs of its physicians. Applicants will benefit from a strong local on-site leadership structure spearheaded by a dedicated medical director who is intimately familiar with the community and departmental operations, backed by Sound Physicians’ leadership development resources. The team environment is stable and well-staffed, minimizing use of temporary premium labor and ensuring more predictable shifts, thus promoting work-life balance.
Living in Aiken, South Carolina, complements the professional opportunity with a unique blend of southern culture, equestrian heritage, and scenic beauty. The city provides a slower pace of life while maintaining a vibrant community atmosphere that appreciates tradition alongside contemporary amenities. This combination makes it a desirable place for healthcare professionals and their families looking to establish roots or enjoy a balanced lifestyle.
Compensation for this role follows a 1099 contract model, reflecting Sound Physicians’ commitment to offering competitive pay structures that align with the autonomy and responsibilities of its physicians. Joining Sound Physicians means becoming part of a national network dedicated to supporting you as a clinician, encouraging continuous professional growth, and empowering you to make a genuine difference in patient care. If you are a board-certified or board-eligible emergency medicine physician seeking a community-focused team environment where your clinical judgment is respected and your contributions matter, this position represents an excellent career move.
