The position available is with the Vanderbilt Coordinated Health (VCH) Emergency Room - Main, which plays a vital role in delivering urgent care at the forefront of the medical center's healthcare services. This role is ideal for paramedics aiming to practice independently within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice and Vanderbilt’s defined parameters. The parademic works both in the field and the Emergency Department, taking responsibility for triaging patient care and communication to ensure patient safety and quality. The role involves various shifts, specifically the 7 AM to 7 PM daytime shift. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered for full-time new employees who meet the eligibility criteria, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to attracting top-tier talent.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Licensure as Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
- Ability to work dayshifts 7A-7P
- Eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus (not applicable to current or recent Vanderbilt staff)
- Full-time employment status
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Licensure as Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
- Relevant work experience preferred
- Ability to successfully demonstrate ventilator management
- Ability to independently assess, intervene, and stabilize patients
- Competence in medication management
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated effective communication and teamwork abilities
Job Duties
- Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care
- Transports patients via various modes of transportation while providing quality ALS and Critical Care management to all ages
- Responds to emergency requests within Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt sponsored or other contracted events
- Utilizes the problem solving model to independently resolve patient problems and follow through with healthcare team to implement solutions
- Identifies patient and unit problems and finds solutions to resolve problems and follows through to implement solutions
- Effectively communicates patient handover to the healthcare team
- Performs additional duties as assigned
