Job Description

Englewood Health is a prominent healthcare system based in northern New Jersey, consisting of Englewood Hospital and the Englewood Health Physician Network. Known for its commitment to exceptional patient care, Englewood Health strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment for both patients and employees. The organization is highly respected for its innovative approach to healthcare, cutting-edge technologies, and dedicated team of professionals. Working at Englewood Health means becoming part of a mission-driven institution that focuses on transforming lives through quality care, compassion, and collaboration. Within this framework, the organization values every team member's contribution, encouraging creative ideas and positive approaches to help elevate the standards of care and community service they provide.

The role of Emergency Department (ED) Greeter for the full-time night shift at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is vital to the patient and visitor experience. This position demands a professional individual who ensures a warm, polite, and welcoming atmosphere for everyone entering the Emergency Department. The ED Greeter is tasked with multiple essential duties, including answering visitors' questions, providing clear directions throughout the hospital, issuing visitor passes, and offering general assistance to all who need help during their visit. Being the first point of contact, this role plays a significant part in setting the tone for the patient's or visitor's entire experience, making it critical for the greeter to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a calm demeanor.

This full-time night position requires working an 8-hour shift from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, providing a presence when hospital traffic can often be challenging, and patients and families might be experiencing heightened distress. The ED Greeter must have the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced, sometimes intense environment, where quick thinking and compassionate communication are essential. Beyond managing routine inquiries and logistics, the greeter often encounters visitors under stress or distress and is expected to diffuse difficult situations with patience and professionalism. The position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage these interactions effectively while maintaining a welcoming environment.

While prior healthcare industry experience is preferred, the role demands a minimum of three years in customer service to ensure candidates have the foundational skills needed for this challenging but rewarding work. Bilingual abilities are also preferred, recognizing the diverse population that Englewood Health serves. The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or a GED. Englewood Health complies fully with New Jersey laws regarding minimum wage and offers a competitive minimum starting rate of $16.00 per hour for this role. In addition to financial compensation, the hospital provides eligible employees with comprehensive benefits such as health and retirement plans, paid time off, and wellness resources, making it a desirable workplace for career-oriented individuals seeking to make a positive impact in healthcare.
