Job Description
Penske Logistics is a global leader in transportation, warehousing, and freight management solutions, known for delivering state-of-the-art services to some of the world's most respected companies. With operations spanning North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, Penske proudly engineers innovative logistics strategies that enhance supply chain visibility and reduce costs, helping businesses move forward efficiently and reliably. Employing highly skilled professionals and leveraging advanced technologies, Penske Logistics is dedicated to excellence and continuous improvement in the logistics industry. The company combines extensive industry experience with a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, making it a trusted partner for clients worldwide.
The Elite Truck Driver / Traveling Driver – Class A position at Penske Logistics offers an exciting and unique opportunity for experienced Class A CDL drivers who want variety, flexibility, and the chance to make a significant impact. This role is not your typical driving position but is designed for adaptable, dependable drivers who take pride in their work and are willing to travel to support critical operations across the country. As part of Penske's Elite Driver team, individuals will be deployed regionally and nationally to assist with new business launches, stabilize operations, and support key strategic customers. Assignments typically last a minimum of three weeks and may extend based on the driver's availability and the company's business needs.
Drivers in this role enjoy premium, consistent pay starting at $2350 per travel week, which includes a $350 weekly per diem. They are compensated even during home weeks and have the option for one full week off every month. The position offers excellent benefits, including paid vacation and holidays, medical, dental, and vision coverage, and robust retirement plans with company contributions. Drivers also receive short- and long-term disability insurance, life and AD&D coverage, company-provided uniforms and safety footwear, 24/7 roadside assistance, and safety recognition programs.
The Elite Truck Driver will operate well-maintained vehicles equipped with best-in-class comfort and safety features, including inward- and outward-facing in-cab cameras designed to enhance driver safety and protection. Job assignments vary widely from high-touch deliveries requiring interaction with customers to no-touch deliveries, and training is provided for specialized equipment. Drivers use scanners and onboard technology to ensure delivery accuracy, demonstrating Penske's commitment to leveraging technology for improved efficiency.
This role stands out because drivers are part of a national response team rather than being tied to a single route. They are deployed to different locations across the United States to support special projects, improve operational performance, and assist in new account startups. Dispatch times and routes vary based on assignment, offering a dynamic and engaging work environment. For every three travel weeks worked, drivers have the option to take a home week or continue traveling, allowing for substantial work-life balance and flexibility.
Candidates must have a valid Class A CDL, at least one year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the past three years (or two years in the past five years), and no more than two moving violations or accidents on their DMV record over the last three years. Preferred candidates hold hazmat and doubles endorsements. In addition to meeting these qualifications, candidates must possess a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card, be proficient in English, and pass background and drug screening checks.
At Penske Logistics, the focus is on safety, professionalism, and teamwork. Drivers represent both Penske and its clients, often driving branded vehicles and wearing client uniforms. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a specialized, high-performing team while maintaining excellent earning potential and a supportive work environment. Penske values its drivers and provides comprehensive support to ensure their success and well-being on the road.
