Job Description
Penske Logistics is a global leader in providing innovative transportation, warehousing, and freight management solutions designed to deliver powerful business outcomes for some of the world's leading companies. With operations spanning North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, Penske Logistics is committed to enhancing supply chain visibility and optimizing costs for their clients. Known for their state-of-the-art equipment and unwavering dedication to safety and customer service, Penske offers professional drivers the opportunity to grow their careers within a stable and supportive nationwide company. They take pride in their exceptional training programs, a strong safety record, excellent management, and clear communication, making Penske a preferred employer for CDL Class A drivers looking for reliability and advancement in their careers.
This Elite Truck Driver / Traveling Driver position with Penske Logistics is a highly unique and flexible Class A CDL role designed for experienced, dependable drivers seeking variety and the opportunity to make a significant impact across the company’s operations. Unlike typical driving roles, drivers in this elite team are deployed on assignments lasting at least three weeks, traveling regionally and nationally to support critical operations, help launch new business initiatives, and stabilize key performance areas. Assignments vary in nature, accommodating different delivery environments and specialized equipment, all supported with comprehensive training.
Drivers in this role benefit from consistent premium pay starting at $2,350 per travel week, which includes a $350 per diem, plus compensation during home weeks. The position offers true flexibility, allowing drivers to extend assignments if it suits their preferences, along with the option for one full home week off every month. Additional benefits include paid vacation and holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans with company contributions, disability and life insurance coverage, driver referral bonuses up to $5,000, and safety recognition programs. Penske also provides company uniforms and safety footwear, along with 24/7 driver and roadside assistance, ensuring a high level of support and professional resources for their drivers.
What sets this role apart is the national deployment aspect, where drivers operate as part of a specialized response team. This dynamic environment means no two assignments are the same, presenting a variety of challenges from high touch to no-touch deliveries, with an emphasis on safety and precision using onboard technology like scanners and cameras. Drivers are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and customer service, often representing clients through branded trucks and uniforms. For every three travel weeks worked, drivers receive the option of a home week or continuing with another travel assignment, providing flexibility to balance work and personal life.
Ideal candidates will have a valid Class A CDL, with at least two years of documented tractor-trailer experience within the last five years, and no more than two moving violations in the past three years. Hazmat and doubles endorsements are preferred but not mandatory. The job requires English proficiency and the ability to meet physical demands such as frequent movement, lifting, vision, and hearing capabilities necessary for safe operation and cargo handling. Candidates must also successfully pass background checks, drug screening, and meet federal Department of Transportation safety and alertness standards.
Joining Penske Logistics means joining a team committed to delivering excellence while supporting growth and career development for all associates. The company emphasizes safety, responsibility, and professional integrity, providing a rewarding career path for drivers who want to make a difference and enjoy flexible yet stable employment with competitive pay and outstanding benefits. If you are a motivated, skilled CDL Class A driver looking to take your career to the next level, Penske’s Elite Truck Driver role offers a unique platform to advance, travel, and achieve professional success with a respected industry leader.
