Located in New York, NY, GFT is currently seeking a qualified Elevator Inspector to join their Construction Services Team. This full-time role requires regular onsite attendance in New York, NY, with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. The offered salary ranges between $150,000 and $170,000, commensurate with experience and geographic location. This position is vital in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, and other conveyance systems across various construction and modernization projects in the city.

As an Elevator Inspector at GFT, you will play a critical role in upholding safety standards mandated by the NYC Building Code, ASME A17.1, and NYCDOB regulations. You will be tasked with conducting thorough inspections of conveyance equipment, performing and witnessing safety and acceptance testing, reviewing new installations and modernization projects, and certifying their compliance with all applicable codes and safety standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in identifying and documenting code violations, unsafe conditions, and equipment deficiencies, as well as investigating elevator-related incidents and complaints.

This role also demands detailed technical report writing and maintaining accurate inspection records essential for regulatory compliance and project success. In addition to fieldwork, you will collaborate closely with contractors, design consultants, owners, and regulatory agencies to support seamless project delivery and ensure corrective actions are properly addressed and resolved. Maintaining active NYC DOB Elevator Inspector credentials and staying current with evolving codes and industry best practices is essential for ongoing success in this role.

Experience with elevator modernization and rehabilitation in occupied residential buildings is highly valued, particularly projects involving public agencies like NYCHA or multifamily residential properties. Candidates with a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification are preferred.
