Job Description

Roseville Area Schools is a reputable and community-focused school district committed to delivering quality education and fostering a positive environment for students and staff alike. Located in the heart of a supportive community, the district places a strong emphasis on student well-being and academic achievement. Roseville Area Schools operates multiple schools, including St. Jerome School, where an opportunity is available to contribute to the nutrition and health of young learners. The school serves about 200 students daily, creating a close-knit community atmosphere that values collaboration and support between staff, students, and families. The district itself champions equity and inclusivity, striving to ensure a respectful and equitable educational experience for all students regardless of their background or identity.

The elementary nutrition manager position at St. Jerome School is an essential role within Roseville Area Schools. It demands a dedicated and experienced professional to manage the school kitchen operations efficiently while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. This position is classified under Nutrition Services and involves a 7.5-hour workday, 5 days a week, aligned with the school calendar for nine months. The schedule offers a great work-life balance with no nights, weekends, or holidays required. Typically, the working hours fall between 7am and 2:30pm, covering both breakfast and lunch periods to ensure students receive nutritious meals during their school day.

Within this role, the elementary nutrition manager will play a vital part in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the school kitchen, including coordinating and supervising staff. The responsibilities extend to ordering food, produce, milk, and other supplies necessary for the smooth operation of the kitchen while managing inventory and ensuring quality standards. This role supports child nutrition programs by verifying meal counts and ensuring that all served food complies with nutrition quality standards and safety regulations. The manager also processes student financial accounts, operates point-of-sale terminals, and maintains cleanliness and safety within the kitchen environment.

Importantly, this position offers an opportunity to impact children’s lives positively by providing healthy meals that help support their growth, learning, and overall well-being. The role requires moderate physical activity within a commercial food service setting, involving lifting and handling of food materials and equipment, sometimes up to 30 pounds, with occasional work in walk-in freezers.

Compensation starts at $22.75 per hour with additional benefits such as one complimentary meal per shift and a uniform allowance. This role is ideal for someone passionate about child nutrition, effective kitchen management, and contributing to a school community that values health and diversity. Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED, food handling experience is preferred, and ServSafe Certification along with Certified Food Protection Manager credentials must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Roseville Area Schools prioritizes equity and seeks individuals dedicated to creating inclusive environments where every student and staff member feels respected and valued. This position requires passing a criminal background check as part of the hiring process.
