With a commitment to support its employees and enhance student wellness, West Fargo Public Schools provides a range of programs and services that meet the needs of its diverse population. Employees benefit from a supportive organizational culture that values collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the educational setting.
The West Fargo Public Schools Food Services Department is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Elementary Kitchen Manager to join its dynamic team at Willow Park Elementary School. This position plays a crucial leadership role in managing the school kitchen operations, which includes overseeing food preparation, ensuring compliance with food safety and health guidelines, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff. The Elementary Kitchen Manager will report directly to the Food Service Site Supervisor and is responsible for creating a positive work environment, training and evaluating food service staff, and maintaining high food quality standards.
This is a full-time, 182-day ongoing position aligned with the 2026-27 school calendar, offering a competitive salary based on experience ranging from $20.25 to $23.25 per hour. Working Monday through Friday, the role requires an individual with proven leadership abilities, strong organizational skills, and a passion for food service excellence within an educational environment.
The role demands someone who not only manages day-to-day kitchen operations but also embodies key qualities such as effective communication, collaboration, compassion, creativity, critical thinking, reflection, resilience, and responsibility. The Elementary Kitchen Manager will be instrumental in enhancing the learner and employee experience, ensuring that food service operations support student nutrition and wellness initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of kitchen facilities, managing supply orders, conducting inventories, and ensuring adherence to budgetary and staffing constraints while fostering a culture of respect and teamwork.
This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on student health by managing nutritious meal services and inspiring a culture of positive food experiences in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of experience in large quantity food preparation, basic computational skills, and food safety training completed within six months of hire. Prior experience in a school environment is preferred. Candidates are expected to exhibit sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate punctuality and reliability in adhering to work schedules.
