The Clark County School District (CCSD) is a highly respected educational organization dedicated to providing quality education and support services to students across various locations. Within CCSD, the Food Service Department plays a critical role in ensuring the provision of nutritious and safe meals to elementary school students. This department not only focuses on food preparation and service but also upholds stringent food safety standards and management practices to maintain a healthy dining environment.
CCSD’s Food Service Department emphasizes health, safety, and customer satisfaction, serving diverse communities including North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and Las Vegas. With a commitment to excellence and continuous training, CCSD offers employees a dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth.
The Elementary Food Service Manager position is a unique floater role, requiring the individual to manage various food service sites across different locations within the district. This role is essential for supervising day-to-day food service operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, and supporting staff across multiple schools. The position demands strong leadership skills, flexibility, and thorough knowledge of food service management.
As an Elementary Food Service Manager, you will oversee food preparation and service activities, ensuring that meals are delivered efficiently and meet nutrition standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, managing inventory and supplies, coordinating with other staff members, and providing training and guidance to food service workers. The role requires proactive problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple locations effectively.
This position is designed for individuals who have a background in food service either through commercial, institutional, or school district experience. The role requires a commitment to completing mandatory training, including the Elementary Food Service Manager training within the first year of employment. Certifications such as the Food Protection Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe) and SNHD Food Handler Safety Training Card are mandatory and must be maintained.
Working as a floating manager across various sites offers variety and challenges that help develop strong managerial and operational skills. It is an excellent opportunity for those who are passionate about food service management in a school district setting, offering a stable work schedule of 9 months per year and 7-hour workdays. This position reports to the Superintendent Office under the Food Service Job category.
In addition to providing meal service during the school year, managers are expected to maintain records, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with district policies and food safety state regulations. The successful candidate must have their own transportation to travel between schools within the region efficiently. This position contributes significantly to the overall health and welfare of students by ensuring safe and nutritious meals are served daily.
By joining CCSD’s Food Service team as an Elementary Food Service Manager, you become part of a dedicated workforce committed to improving student well-being through quality nutrition and food safety. You will have the support of a well-established food service system, access to continuous professional development, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on school communities across several cities.
