Job Description
The Clark County School District (CCSD) is one of the largest and most diverse school districts in the United States, serving the educational needs of thousands of students across multiple communities including North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and Las Vegas. CCSD prides itself on providing a supportive, inclusive, and well-managed environment for both its students and employees. As an employer, CCSD is committed to fostering growth and professional development within its workforce, especially through roles that support the critical functions of school operations such as food services. These roles not only facilitate the daily nutritional needs of students but also contribute to the overall wellbeing and success of the educational environment.
The position offered is for a Food Service Manager within the CCSD Food Service Department, specifically a floating managerial role that involves supervising various food service sites across the North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and Las Vegas areas. This role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation and management of food service activities in the schools. The Food Service Manager will be tasked with overseeing food preparation and service, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and managing staff performance and schedules effectively.
Candidates applying for this role should expect a diversified work environment where adaptability and mobility are essential since the manager will cover multiple sites rather than being fixed at one location. The position requires working approximately 7 hours a day over a 9-month period, aligning with the academic calendar. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service management within an educational setting to make a meaningful impact on students' daily lives.
The Food Service Manager will be responsible for upholding all food safety protocols including obtaining and maintaining required certifications such as the Food Protection Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe) and the SNHD Food Handler Safety Training Card. The manager is expected to complete locally recognized Elementary Food Service Manager training within the first year of employment to ensure compliance with CCSD standards. Reliable personal transportation is required to manage duties effectively across multiple locations.
This position directly contributes to the Clark County School District’s mission by promoting healthy, safe, and efficient food service operations that support learning environments. Working in collaboration with the Superintendent’s Office, the Food Service Manager plays a key role in the operational success of the district’s food services, ensuring that students receive quality meals in a timely and hygienic manner. This FTC (full-time contract) role not only provides a stable work schedule but also integrates the benefits typical of a day job within the public school system, reflecting CCSD’s commitment to staff welfare and professional standards.
